beyond excited to let yall know that we will be celebrating Bongo’s 1 year anniversary next month, Friday, November 6 🎉

really seems like yesterday when @_buckwilson_, @golem.http and i were talking about the idea of doing a free party of vinyl djing with a focus on the sounds of bay area tech/deep house, garage, and uk funky. to celebrate 1 year of this monthly free party is to celebrate every single thing that has made the party what it is today — bar, djs, dancers, friends, random patrons — and all the memories in between :’)

so please come join us @mothershipbar first friday next month to celebrate 1 year of Bongo and hopefully many more to come! as a treat, we are honored to host thee @djjimhopkins as our guest for the anniversary party.

for those unfamiliar, jim hopkins is a living legend who has remained integral to bay area dance music and gay nightlife communities. jim has held many different titles throughout his tenure, from being label head of the infamous Twitch Recordings, to now being the main figure behind the SF Disco Preservation Society @sfdps1. you can also catch jim djing on the regular @440castro

i first learned of jim when digging through the bay’s incredible catalog of dance music from the 90’s and early 00’s. among all the insane releases, i’ve always had a penchant for jim’s music and his unique blend of funky breaks, freestyle beats, hi nrg sounds mixed into a track perfect for a night club or renegade

so really hoping anyone and everyone can make it out! free to party as always so why not bring a friend or two… also word on the street is that mothership boasts one of the best sound systems in the bay 🤫".
